Hangzhou Library Becomes " Third Cultural Space " for Citizens

As the curator of Hangzhou library, I look back to the past decade and my greatest happiness lies in witnessing Hangzhou Library’s transition from a domestic backward library into a city library in the world's advanced level.

In 2003, we tried to launch a the credential-free and charge-free systemany reader can enter our library as long as he or she is willing to read, even if a beggar or a scavenger. The only requirement is to wash hands before reading.

In addition to reading, the library should also be integrated into people's daily lives. So Hangzhou Library began to organize various seminars, exhibitions, performances, concerts and movies. We are working hard to build Hangzhou Library as ”Third Cultural Space " for Hangzhou citizens.
